oses has been one of the star players in the EU. He found success playing for Abrahams, Leviathan, and even Melee Creeps in a quick region swap. He also played with Dimov and ABL on Gooballs last year, and together they won Deadlock Night Shift EU #13. With the roster mania in both regions, Oses became a free agent and built his own roster with Silence and, after leaving Abrahams, Kastalia. Since the beginning of the year, he has been one of the best carries in Deadlock and shows no signs of slowing down.

In this interview, Oses talks a little more about his path into Deadlock and its pro scene, and how he sees the main differences between North American players and European players. He also shares his thoughts about what Deadlock needs to become a better esports product now.

To start things, how did you end up in Deadlock and what is your history with games and esports? Are there other games that you enjoy playing?

Компетитив опыт был в dead by daylight и valorant(много времени в команд не был, из за языкового барьера)
I first discovered Deadlock through a Russian-speaking streamer who was broadcasting the game, even though streaming it wasn't actually allowed at the time (permission was granted just a day later, lol). I liked it from the very first minutes and decided to download it immediately. I had prior competitive experience in Dead by Daylight and Valorant though I didn't spend much time on teams due to the language barrier.

What caught your attention in the game the first time you saw it? What advice do you have for those who want to start playing Deadlock?

What drew me in was that the game is quite fast-paced and similar to titles I’ve played before. I’d advise new players to pick a specific role (carry, semi-carry, brawler, or support), play at least 3 - 4 heroes in that role to improve, and watch how professional players handle them.

After playing for both regions, how do you see the main differences between playing for NA and EU teams?

In NA, people don't play like their lives depend on it the way they do in EU, mostly because NA players have jobs or studies, whereas EU players practically live on Deadlock or streaming. That’s also why people are so friendly (I don't know why anyone claimed NA players were toxic).

And how do you see the differences between playing against an NA team and against an EU team?

I don't know, it's just that NA teams are a cut or two below EU teams in terms of skill (though NA sometimes does have good builds and hero prioritization during the draft). In NA, new ideas regarding hero picks emerge, and EU teams often adopt some of these ideas and refine them significantly.

How was your time with Melee Creeps?

I really enjoyed playing Leviathan and MLC, and I noticed a big difference in terms of mentality and communication. There is very little spam in English-speaking teams, largely due to a more limited vocabulary.

We saw some time zone conflicts in mixed events like DLNS Open and DS Invitational. How was it for you to play in the NA time zone? What was the worst part during your time with MLC - the time zone games and scrims or the ping?

The timing of these tournaments was actually quite convenient. However, playing scrims and NA matches isn’t ideal to my well-being; while ping wasn't really the deciding factor, though it did feel awkward on certain characters, my physical condition was the main issue.

And your expectations about the competitive scene?

We need to improve the viewing experience for the audience, and I think it's time to add three bans per side to the draft phase. We need three bans to ensure uniqueness in drafts; with only two bans, drafts tend to be quite similar and follow the same concepts. Three bans allow for greater versatility.

And to close things for today, What are your feelings and expectations about the game?

The game will be in a fresh state following the content patch, and the next patch really ought to be an Open Beta. It certainly needs an Open Beta phase after this upcoming patch. I want the game to become popular in Asia once it enters open beta, because the competition will be fierce if it gains popularity there.
